I write as someone who was once a child herself.
As a mother who has raised a child. And as a woman who may one day become a grandmother.

Children are vulnerable. They depend on us – the adults – to stand up for them, to protect them from all that is too big, too harsh, or too dark.

That's why I want to shed light on what is going wrong for children around the world. Not to shock, but to raise awareness.

Because every child deserves safety, love, and a fair start in life.Every day, innocent children become victims of a war that often goes unnoticed - a war in which their rights, safety, and very lives are at stake. While the world watches, horrific abuses continue unabated. 

Babies are sold on the international black market daily, and 160 million children are trapped in child labor that endangers their physical and mental health. 

Approximately 20,000 children die each day because food is diverted to feed animals imprisoned in factory farms. Worldwide, 139 abortions occur every minute, and every 10 minutes a child disappears without a trace. 

Furthermore, more than 660 million women alive today were forced into child marriage, victims of pedophiles whose actions stem from following flawed human examples rather than the sinless teachings of Jesus. These staggering facts reveal a war on children that touches every aspect of their lives, fueled by injustice, exploitation, and a lack of compassion.

This page explores the many faces of this war and calls for urgent awareness and action to protect and honor our children.

In this essay, I act as a librarian, collecting and sharing the urgent truths about children that demand our attention. 

′′We've seen horrific footage. Pictures you'll probably never see, but exist. We have seen them for you and we are attesting to them. Networks trade images of raping babies, murder, torture."

We've seen images of children crying or totally inert, attached by chains, with needles pressed into genitals, electrodes, studded necklaces around their neck. The vagina or anus of one, two or three-year-olds, stoned by an adult sex or different objects.

Such images are circulating in the thousands. When you see them, nothing becomes more important in a country of law than doing everything to save these children and neutralize criminals. Excerpt from Laurence Beneux and Serge Garde, journalists for Le Figaro et l' Humanité.

Told him why he came for such an advertisement of a much too young girl.
He knew that if caught, he would most likely get away with a few hours community service, because penalties for these crimes are often very low, and he was willing to take that risk."

"For the second series, we also watch dark web researchers. They spend all day searching in communities in which tips are exchanged on how to get kids to send a nude photo or to undress in front of the webcam, so that they can then be blackmailed. You see the most horrible things and titles passing by that I just can't repeat.

It's not about a few monsters. Worldwide, two million people are members of one such forum, about a thousand Dutch people. "

At least 20,000 Dutch men travel abroad each year to abuse a child

Yet no one sees them. This group turns out to be larger, younger, and more diverse than previously thought, but perpetrators rarely come to the attention of the justice system. "We want to wake up the political establishment: this is not something that happens occasionally," says researcher Arjan Blokland. "We must take responsibility for this here in the Netherlands."

The stereotype of the wealthy, elderly man travelling to Thailand does not hold up, according to the recent study Risk Assessment of Perpetrators of Transnational Sexual Child Abuse (TSK). A large and diverse group of men travel abroad to abuse minors, or participate from home in paid livestreams. The latter form is suspected to have increased significantly since the pandemic.

Nevertheless, this group remains largely invisible to police and prosecutors. Only a handful are prosecuted in the Netherlands. Foreign convictions rarely make their way into our legal systems. New research commissioned by the WODC and conducted by researchers from the NSCR and VU has, for the first time, made the scale visible: between 131,000 and 171,000 Dutch men are estimated to have committed TSK at some point. They range from young to old, highly educated to less educated, and from different backgrounds. Every year, it concerns at least 20,000 men - a shocking figure that has already attracted considerable media attention.

The rise of pedohunters

In recent years, vigilante groups known as "pedohunters" have gained attention across various countries. These self-appointed defenders take matters into their own hands to expose and confront alleged child predators, often operating online or in real life. While their intentions resonate with many concerned about child safety, sometimes their actions raise complex legal and ethical questions. 

Team Moore in France is an international citizen collective that fights pedocrime on the internet. The goal is to obtain a legal framework to work jointly with the authorities, as is already the case in England, where half of the sexual predator arrests are ordinary citizens. Composed of only volunteers, parents, or former victims, this group has allowed more than twenty arrests on three continents in just one year, a dozen convictions, the launch of the Network (R) Evolution which now has numerous teams around the world and the report of many pedophile sites. Fear will change sides.

In France, 165.000 children are victims of rape and sexual abuse every year (source)

With 750 sexual predators constantly estimated on the lookout for children on the internet, cyberpedophilia is a growing scourge that faces very few obstacles. In France, the authorities are struggling to control the phenomenon and are struggling to hide this lack of investment. A doubly stunning situation when we think of the superhuman efforts made to track and prosecute - successfully - those accused of downloading some miserable films on the Internet. Revolted by this insufficiency, a collective of a few citizens called Team Moore decided to trap predators through the creation of fake girls' profiles on Facebook. "Inside prison I saw that pedophiles were protected"

2021 (source) 'A 29-year-old man from Amsterdam was sentenced to three years in prison for attempting to commit lewd acts with a minor, rape and possession of child pornography. He thought he had made a sex appointment with a 14-year-old girl via the internet. Once he arrived at the appointment, however, he walked into the arms of two men with whom he had actually had contact. These men called the police. So pedo hunters made sure this man was caught. 

Jonathan Oostenbrink was once also a pedo hunter. "..The Public Prosecution Service is not happy with it, but every normal thinking person sees that it is good," he tells EditieNL. Oostenbrink once successfully tricked a pedophile. "I put Manuel C. in jail and in a clinic. He wanted to make an appointment and I filmed it."  

Oostenbrink himself has been incarcerated for several years for another offence. "And inside I saw that these types were protected. When I was outside I wanted to do something good."'

The Success of Paedophile Hunters 

Still relatively unknown in France, the phenomenon of paedophile hunters is already widespread in the United States and especially in Great Britain, where it accounts for about half of all arrests of British predators. The French collective reports around forty arrests and fifteen convictions. The individual in question may soon be added to these numbers, as he has been placed under judicial supervision pending trial. (source)

By 2021, thanks to the efforts of Team Moore, around 26 arrests and 11 convictions were made across France, Belgium, Réunion Island, and Mauritius. One individual received a two-year prison sentence. In April 2021, Team Moore scored another victory in Haute-Saône when a 54-year-old man, arrested in September 2020 following their intervention, was sentenced to 10 months in prison in Vesoul. Many people want to actively combat online child exploitation. You can join the EVOLUTION group to collaborate on developing practical solutions such as intercepting offenders, reporting illegal content, creating prevention tools for parents and children, and providing support services for victims. It is the responsibility of citizens, volunteers, and organizations to work together to protect children and plan for the future of child safety. So far, these efforts have led to some offenders facing justice, while others, confronted with exposure, have tragically taken their own lives. 

Team Moore's approach focuses on identifying and exposing offenders by gathering evidence and holding them accountable. Their goal is to prevent further harm to children.

Across modern societies, age restrictions exist for a reason: they are based on well-established insights from neuroscience, psychology, public health, and law. Whether it's the minimum age for driving, consuming alcohol, voting, or undergoing medical procedures, these limits are intended to protect minors—individuals whose cognitive and emotional development is still underway.

Scientific research confirms that the human brain, particularly the prefrontal cortex responsible for decision-making and risk assessment, does not fully mature until approximately age 25. This has concrete implications for behavior: minors are more impulsive, more vulnerable to external influence, and less capable of long-term reasoning than adults.

For example:

• Alcohol consumption is prohibited under 18 in many countries due to its damaging effects on the developing brain.

• Driving is restricted to individuals aged 17+ under supervised conditions, or 18+ independently, due to the high risk of accidents among younger, less experienced drivers.

• Legal contracts, voting rights, and military service are similarly age-limited because they require a degree of judgment and responsibility that minors typically lack.

Given these facts, it is inconsistent and concerning when some advocate for allowing minors to make irreversible life decisions—such as undergoing medical sex changes or engaging in relationships with adults—while simultaneously acknowledging their limited capacity in other domains. Numerous peer-reviewed studies and official reviews (e.g., the UK's Cass Review) have called for caution, citing developmental vulnerability and long-term psychological risks.

This page is committed to presenting the scientific and ethical rationale for protecting children through age-appropriate boundaries—without ideology, without emotion, and without exception.

In 2014, students from OBS De Vinkenbuurt in Ommen visited the Ghulzar-e-Madina Mosque in Zwolle as part of a school excursion. During this visit, the children were filmed kneeling and performing Islamic prayers under the guidance of an imam. These videos resurfaced in 2024, leading to public outrage and discussions about the appropriateness of such activities in public schools.

The mosque has been associated with controversial figures, including Imam Mohammed Anas Noorani Siddiqui, who has made statements deemed offensive and radical. His remarks include calling non-Muslim Dutch people "dogs and bitches" and advocating for the death penalty for those who insult their Muhammad. These associations have raised concerns about the nature of the school's visit and the appropriateness of exposing children to such environments. The incident prompted the Dutch Parliament to pass a motion granting parents the right to withdraw their children from mosque excursions.

However, the implementation of this motion has been delayed, leading to continued debates about the role of religious education in public schools.

Do you think Muslim children are taken to church to learn that Jesus Christ is the Son of God? That does not happen.

Teaching Children Life Skills, Not Early Sexualization

Teach children to be independent and respectful—to listen to animals, care for the elderly, understand the changing seasons, and recognize which mushrooms are safe to eat. Show them how to garden, cook, and express themselves through music and dance. Teach them how to protect themselves and embrace life with joy and freedom.

Yet, in today's world, why is there such an obsession with children's bodies? Why is their innocence overshadowed by premature sexualization? And why are these harmful ideas often promoted by those who don't even have children of their own?

Jesus (Matthew 23:37) praised the hen for her motherhood, gathering her chicks safely under her wings. Yet humans eat the hen, strip her wings, and-possessed by demons-sacrifice their own children instead of themselves. 

This is real motherhood:

Emma Schols (31), a mother from Sweden, entered a hell of flames not once, but four times to save her six children — and survived, despite 93% of her body being burned. Without waiting for help, she ran barefoot through the fire up the stairs, entered every room, and carried her children out one by one — even jumping from a second-floor window with her youngest child in her arms.

Emma fell into a coma lasting more than two months and underwent over twenty surgeries. But when she awoke, her first question was: "Are my children okay?"

In December 1999, torrential rains unleashed one of Latin America's deadliest natural disasters: the Vargas tragedy in Venezuela. Landslides and floods swallowed entire towns, erasing homes, families, and futures. Estimates of the death toll range from 10,000 to more than 30,000 lives lost.

Amid the chaos, a single moment became etched in memory. A father, buried in mud up to his neck, refused to be pulled out by rescuers. Holding tightly to the hands of his daughters, he whispered: "Don't pull me out… both my daughters are holding my hands." His girls had already been claimed by the avalanche, yet he chose to remain with them, a final act of love stronger than survival itself.

The Vargas tragedy was more than a natural disaster—it was a human one. And in the darkness of that December, a father's words became an enduring testament to the unbreakable bond of love, even beyond life.

In many countries, we see significant differences in educational approaches, especially regarding what children learn at a young age.

Finland is globally known for its progressive education system, where media literacy and critical thinking play a central role starting from preschool. Children there learn not only reading and writing but also how to recognize fake news and navigate the online world safely. This broad approach makes Finland one of the most resilient countries in Europe against misinformation.

In Japan and China, there is a strong emphasis on practical skills, even for young children. For example, Japanese preschoolers actively participate in cleaning their school environment — a lesson in responsibility and community spirit. In Chinese schools, children learn to cook at an early age, which enhances their independence and practical knowledge.

The situation in the Netherlands and England is different. Despite investments in education, a significant gap remains in areas like reading and writing among some groups of children. At the same time, these countries provide education about sexuality at a young age - a topic many believe is better addressed later. Additionally, sometimes controversial social themes are introduced, such as visits to religious institutions, sparking debates about the right balance between cultural and educational goals.

The examples from Finland, Japan, and China show that an integrated and respectful approach can prepare children for a complex world without overwhelming them with topics they are not yet ready for. 

In 2006, British retailers Tesco sold a product called "My First Stripper Pole"- an actual Stripper Pole How-To Kit for little girls. Here's a blurb from their marketing materials: "Unleash the sex kitten inside...simply extend the Peekaboo pole inside the tube, slip on the sexy tunes and away you go!"

Across industries—from fashion and advertising to film and retail—major brands and outlets have increasingly crossed the line when it comes to children. Whether it's padded bikinis for 9-year-olds, child pole-dancing kits, or ad campaigns that place children in suggestive contexts, the pattern is clear: innocence is being commodified. The examples below speak for themselves.

In 2021, Cadbury faced criticism for an Easter ad featuring two men sharing a Creme Egg in an intimate kiss. Some viewers argued the ad, marketed during a family holiday, was overly sexualised and inappropriate for children.  

Critics say Cadbury anticipated the backlash and used it for publicity - a strange strategy, considering their core audience includes families and young children.

Pedophilia was not explicitly criminalized in the Netherlands in the past, as long as no abuse or exploitation took place. Some self-identified pedophiles have stated that the only reason they remain silent today is because it is now criminalized and socially condemned. This cultural leniency in earlier decades may help explain why child sexualization in Dutch media has occasionally been tolerated, and why sentences for child abuse can still appear relatively mild compared to other countries. In both the Netherlands and the UK, children are being taught about masturbation, gender identity, and sexual diversity at increasingly young ages. 

Yet while schools prioritize sexual education, basic skills are falling behind. 

In the Netherlands, the Red Cross is expanding food aid—providing breakfast packages and shopping cards to families in need. An estimated 400,000 people now face hidden food poverty.

Meanwhile in the UK, Unicef intervened for the first time ever to feed hungry children inside the country-a role it normally plays in war zones. One in five UK households now struggles to feed their children. Priorities....

Dutch education inspectorate chad girls in predominantly Christian schools draw the male genitals in 2020

Netherlands, 2020 - source 1, source 2 - Several educational organizations have reacted angrily to the way in which the education inspectorate has tackled an investigation into citizenship. In doing so, the inspectorate entered schools unannounced to question students about sexual topics, among other things. It is also striking that reformed schools are heavily over represented in the investigation. Pieter Moens of the education organization VGS even speaks of "KGB methods", with which he directly refers to the Russian secret service. There is also quite a stir about the questions. For example, a report by a teacher at a Jewish school shows that the children were asked whether they used drugs and whether they hated Islam. The girls were also asked to draw a male genital organ.

"Raids" and "KGB-style practices" 

The Dutch government is increasingly pushing homo- and gender ideology in the education system. Reformed (Christian) schools are now facing "intensive inspection visits," writes former editor-in-chief C.S.L. Janse in the Reformatorisch Dagblad.

Until recently, the government limited its focus to mainstream schools. In 2020, some schools underwent "intensive inspection visits," during which students were questioned about sexuality without their parents' knowledge. School administrators described the events as "raids" and "KGB-style practices."

Sex Ed Before Spelling: What's Going On in Dutch Classrooms?

In the Netherlands, children as young as 4 are introduced to sexuality education through government-backed programs developed by Rutgers, an organization that receives tens of millions in public funding each year.

One of its core initiatives is the "Week of Spring Fever", a national campaign rolled out in primary schools (ages 4–12). Even students in group 3 and 4 (ages 6–8) are given lessons on bodily autonomy and personal boundaries.

A typical assignment includes a coloring page of a child's body. Students are asked to color areas green if they like being touched there, and red if not.

This is happening before many children can read, write, or do basic math — raising serious concerns about age-appropriateness and ideological overreach in the classroom.

In 2018 in the UK children as young as six were forced to write a "gay love letter" in the name of promoting diversity at a primary school in England. "This class of 6-year-olds is learning about gay marriage [...] all ages take part in LGBT lessons." (source)

Sexuality and Pedophilia in Dutch Media and Education: A Brief Overview

In recent years, some Dutch public broadcasters and programs have sparked controversy by addressing sensitive topics related to sexuality, gender identity, and pedophilia.

Psychologist Stefan Bogaerts has publicly stated that pedophilia should be openly discussed and included in sex education, describing it as "part of sexuality." This position has been met with significant public concern.

The Dutch broadcaster NTR aired a program called Just. naked. out., in which adults appear nude in front of children, including presentations involving transgender individuals.

The program Children for Children, aired during the King's Games, featured children singing a song about gender diversity ("He or she or x"), reflecting inclusive approaches to gender in schools.

The public broadcaster NPO3 aired Naakt voor de klas ("Naked in front of the class"), where presenters visit schools to discuss sexual diversity, including homosexuality and transgender issues, and promote open discussions about sexuality. Some segments included encouraging masturbation education exercises.

Controversially, the broadcaster BNN/VARA hosted a pedophile speaker on a show, with the individual filmed in shadow to obscure identity, described by the host as a "normal guy." This appearance caused public debate.

Additionally, some media outlets, including NOS Stories on YouTube, have covered topics such as access to hormone treatments for transgender youth, sometimes highlighting the ease of obtaining hormone medication online.

These broadcasts and educational programs have raised concerns among parents and conservative groups regarding the age-appropriateness and ideological framing of sexuality and gender topics presented to children.

Addressing Declining Literacy and Numeracy in the Netherlands 

Dutch State Secretary Mariëlle Paul has proposed a law to refocus education on reading, writing, and arithmetic, with changes set to take effect in classrooms from August 2027. Other curriculum goals will follow in the coming years. Paul encourages schools to start implementing these plans early, even before the law is passed.

This refocus comes amid worrying trends: international research from the OECD shows that Dutch students have significantly declined in reading over the past twelve years, dropping from among Europe's best to below average. They have also lost their earlier advantage in math. (Source: ANP)

These facts highlight a growing concern: while essential skills like reading and math are deteriorating, education has increasingly emphasized topics such as sexuality—raising questions about priorities in schools. 

By the end of July 2016, almost 1,500 minors with Muslim backgrounds were registered in Germany as married, including 361 under the age of 14. source  In 2013-2014, about 250 child marriages occurred per year in the Netherlands. source

Europe is divided over how to handle child marriages brought by migrants and refugees. Should a 14-year-old married girl be seen as a child in need of protection, or a spouse with rights? That this even remains a question in Europe - whether to protect a child or honor a tradition that enables their abuse - is nothing short of outrageous. 

In countries like Denmark, outrage over young girls cohabiting with older husbands led to a temporary separation policy in asylum centers - only to be reversed after backlash and suicide attempts. 

The government cited international human rights treaties as reasons for reuniting the couples. Germany has seen over 1,000 underage marriages, but legal responses remain inconsistent. 

One case involving a 15-year-old Syrian girl and her 21-year-old cousin bounced between courts, highlighting the legal uncertainty. The justice ministry has since launched a task force to create unified policy.

Inbreeding — the practice of marrying or reproducing within close family lines — has a long and well-documented history in both Europe and parts of Asia. European royal families, such as the Spanish Habsburgs and the descendants of Charles II, are infamous examples. Charles II of Spain, for instance, was the result of generations of dynastic inbreeding, leading to severe physical and cognitive disabilities.

Today, scientists in countries like Pakistan are raising alarms over high rates of cousin marriages, with studies showing links to decreased average IQ, increased risk of genetic disorders, and other long-term health effects. While culturally accepted in some regions, the scientific consensus is clear: extreme consanguinity increases the risk of various mental and physical complications in offspring.

Study Suggests Thousands Europeans in the UK Are Born from Close Family Relationships 

Research from the University of Queensland, analyzing DNA from over 450,000 UK volunteers of European descent, estimates that around 13,200 people in England and Wales were born from parents who were first- or second-degree relatives. 

Published in Nature Communications, the study warns that the actual number may be higher since individuals with severe health issues are less likely to participate in such research. Children born from close relatives face increased risks of health problems including reduced fertility, stunted growth, and cognitive impairments. On average, cousin marriages results in children with 10-16 points lower IQ. Social abilities, including empathy, are also less developed with inbred people. The study highlights the importance of awareness about the consequences of close family unions. source

When Muslim Cousins Marry Each Other and Produce Inbreds

A long list of mental and physical complications are related to inbreeding between cousins. These include an increased risk of depression, schizophrenia, and mental retardation. Mental retardation (less than an IQ of 69) in children of consanguineous marriages is five times more frequent than in normal marriages. source

Across the UK and the Netherlands, meat and dairy industries are increasingly targeting children with misleading educational materials that romanticize factory farming. In the UK, the book "Farm to Foodhall: The Magic Ingredient" presents animals as "magical" components of food production, ignoring the harsh realities of industrial farming - including forced separation of calves from their mothers and inevitable slaughter.

In the Netherlands, the pig industry launched a nationwide campaign called "The Pig Story", distributing teaching materials to all primary schools. The content paints an unrealistically rosy picture of pig farming — claiming pigs enjoy playtime and comfort — while omitting the confinement, stress, and suffering that pigs actually endure. 

Animal welfare group Pigs in Need (Varkens in Nood) filed a complaint, after which the Dutch Advertising Code Committee ruled that the campaign was misleading and unauthorized advertising aimed at children.

Instead of educating, these campaigns distort the truth, using propaganda to normalize animal exploitation for the next generation.

Bos Biovarkens: Questionable Marketing Targeting Children

The company Bos Biovarkens, along with individuals associated with the platform lerenbijdeboer.nl, promotes educational content aimed at children that normalizes the exploitation and mistreatment of farm animals. This marketing encourages children to accept practices such as animal confinement, breeding manipulation, and slaughter as standard and acceptable.

Kip.Kiplekker: Manipulating Young Minds

Once again, companies are distributing so-called free educational materials to schools with the aim of influencing and manipulating children. 

This time, the Dutch organization behind it is the Kip.Kiplekker Foundation, targeting children in groups 6 to 8 of primary education. Their marketing disguises promotional content as teaching material, blurring the line between education and advertising.

Companies like Disney and Nickelodeon rely heavily on families for their revenue — yet increasingly, they promote content many parents find inappropriate for young children. During Pride Month, both networks aired ads and messages celebrating LGBTQ+ themes, sparking concern among viewers.

Critics point out the inconsistency: children are considered too young to drink, vote, or drive, yet some media outlets push complex topics like sexual orientation at an early age. "This is a children's network," one parent tweeted, "they shouldn't be focusing on sexual orientation… I have no problem with LGBTQ, just not as a topic for kids."

For many, the issue isn't about exclusion or intolerance - it's about age-appropriateness. Topics related to sexuality, identity, and adult relationships may be important, but they are not always suitable for preschoolers or young children still learning basic life skills.

Parents are urged to be vigilant. Even "educational" or "entertainment" content can carry messages that challenge a family's values or overstep boundaries. It's not about hate — it's about protecting innocence.

When Children's Shows Harbor Predators

Multiple staff members from Nickelodeon and Disney have been arrested or convicted of child sexual abuse, highlighting systemic failures in child protection:

• Nickelodeon employed or hired five individuals later convicted of child molestation, with two others accused of similar crimes. Among them were production assistant Jason Handy, who was sentenced to six years in prison for sexual contact with a child, and dialogue coach Brian Peck, who abused teenage star Drake Bell and received a prison term of 16 months.

• Ezell Channel, an animator at Nickelodeon, was arrested in 2005 for molesting a teenage boy at the studio—despite already being a registered sex offender. He had been rehired after his earlier conviction.

• Disney has also faced scandals: at least 35 employees were arrested between 2006 and 2014 for alleged child sex offenses, including possession of child pornography and luring minors online. Some were even arrested while wearing Disney uniforms during "Operation Child Protector" stings

Despite efforts to improve screening and safety, these cases reveal how predators have infiltrated networks meant to protect children. Punishments for sexual abuse of minors in the Netherlands often fall below sentencing guidelines 

Two parliamentary motions from 2019 were the reason for the investigation: the outcome is that sentences for sexual abuse of minors are often lower than guidelines. It is striking that the judge in those cases usually imposes a much milder sentence than is demanded.

Why Do Child Sexual Offenders in the Netherlands Often Get Community Service? 

Dutch criminal law (Article 22b, paragraph 1, sub a) states that judges cannot impose community service for serious crimes punishable by six years or more in prison that cause severe physical harm to the victim. Child sexual abuse falls under this category, so in theory, offenders should not receive community service sentences.

However, there is an exception (Article 22b, paragraph 3): judges can impose community service if they also give an unconditional prison sentence of at least one day.

In practice, this means judges often hand down: a short prison sentence (sometimes just one day), combined with a community service order, often up to 240 hours. This legal loophole allows offenders to avoid longer prison time while still receiving a punishment that includes community service.

European Union opposes Polish bill to protect children from sex abuse

November 20, 2019 (LifeSiteNews) - Over 400 members of the European Parliament have voted to pass a resolution criticizing a Polish bill called "Stop Pedophilia" that seeks to protect minors from sexual abuse by adults. The "Stop Pedofilii" bill seeks to make the incitement of minor children to sexual activity illegal in Poland. 

A GAZAN family of six granted the right to settle in Britain under a scheme intended for Ukrainians. A convicted rapist who avoided deportation to Afghanistan on the basis that the authorities there might take a 'dim view' of sex offenders. A murderer blocked from deportation to his native Bangladesh because he claimed he was bisexual.

They might sound like a random selection of the increasingly bizarre legal cases to be heard in Britain under the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR). But they all have one thing in common: one of the judges sitting on each of the cases was Hugo Norton-Taylor.

It is six years since Norton-Taylor, then 46, was appointed a salaried judge in the Upper Tribunal, Immigration and Asylum chamber – the court to which failed asylum-seekers and other foreign nationals eager to remain in Britain can apply to have their cases reconsidered.

But, in that time, Norton-Taylor has acquired something of a reputation. In a judiciary that sometimes seems dominated by bleeding-heart liberals, he stands out as having an unusually large number of unfathomable rulings to his name.

It takes something for both Keir Starmer, himself a human rights lawyer, and our Left-wing Foreign Secretary David Lammy to be shocked by a decision made under the ECHR. But that is what has happened in the case of a Gazan family who applied for asylum in the UK through the Ukrainian resettlement scheme.

The family – not unreasonably – lost their case in the Lower Tribunal on the grounds that they were not Ukrainian citizens and had no connection to the country.

Yet, in January this year, the decision was overturned by Norton-Taylor, who ruled that the earlier decision did not 'strike a fair balance between the appellants' interests and those of the public'.

Norton-Taylor was still trying to defend this ruling last week when he was involved in a public spat with Lammy.

The family, as it happens, have not yet made it to Britain because they are in Gaza and need permission from the Israeli government to leave. Lammy has so far refused to grant the consular support from the UK, which would be needed to facilitate their journey to Britain – prompting Norton-Taylor to urge him to 'think again'.

As the Foreign Office has pointed out with some alarm, Norton-Taylor's decision may open the door for anyone living in a conflict zone anywhere in the world to apply for asylum in the UK. That could be millions of people. Yet, unlike government ministers, the judiciary does not have to deal with the practical and financial consequences of its rulings.

Norton-Taylor happens to be the son of Richard Norton-Taylor, a former Guardian journalist who now writes for online publication Declassified-UK, often on Palestinian issues.

In one recent offering, Norton-Taylor Sr argued, somewhat hysterically, that the Government's decision to proscribe the group Palestine Action after its activists broke into RAF Brize Norton and spray-painted two aircraft 'threatens all our civil liberties'. Perhaps he would like to name a single country in the world that would tolerate protesters breaking into its military bases and vandalising equipment.

I don't know what the younger Norton-Taylor thinks about the Government's decision to ban Palestine Action. But when it comes to his general liberal sympathies, he certainly appears to be a chip off the old block.

In the same month as his eccentric ruling granted asylum to the Palestinian family, it emerged that he had also handed Ramazan Morina, an Albanian who had twice been refused asylum, the right to remain in Britain on the grounds that it would be 'harsh' on his stepchildren. Never mind enforcing migration law, nor acknowledging that Albania is a safe country,

in Norton-Taylor's hands our immigration system hinges on the feelings of children who aren't even descended from the asylum seeker in question.

Even more outrageous, to my mind, was a ruling in 2022 to block the deportation of Afghan native Ibrahim Ahmadi, who had been granted asylum before being jailed for seven years for raping a woman in Glasgow.

Serious offenders are supposed to be removed from Britain on release from prison. But Norton-Taylor, sitting with another judge, Tom Wilding, ruled that Ahmadi couldn't be sent home because it was 'reasonably likely that the Taliban would take a dim view of an individual who had committed a violent sexual offence in a Western country'.

Given how the Taliban treat women, it is hard to see that they would be terribly bothered by what he had done, but yet again, thanks to judges such as Norton-Taylor, we have ended up with a migration system that rewards murderers and rapists for their crimes.

Ahmadi, by the way, was helped in his appeal by £1,330 worth of legal aid – paid for by you and me.

It was a similar story with 'EH', a Bangladeshi who had been jailed for a minimum of 12 years in 2008 for murdering his wife. The killer had claimed he was 'bisexual' – although the court accepted that he had lied about this to support his case. 

On his release, EH should have been summarily deported, but this was blocked on the grounds of Article 3 of the ECHR which provides protection against degrading and inhumane treatment, such as the type he may have faced for his fictitious 'bisexuality'.

The judge involved? You've guessed it: Norton-Taylor again.

Decisions such as these are surely a long way from what the bureaucrats who drafted the ECHR had in mind back in 1950.

But the problem with the convention – as its critics have rightly highlighted – is that its vague principles are open to wide interpretation. That gives judges huge leeway in their rulings – which certain liberal-minded officials are only too happy to take advantage of. And that's only scratching the surface.

Let's not forget Shaban Binaku, the Kosovan who illegally re-entered Britain after being convicted of theft, possessing a weapon and supplying class A drugs – but was granted permission to stay in 2020 on the grounds that deportation would be unfair on his children.

Or the Sudanese '16-year-old' who was ruled more 'likely than not' to be telling the truth about his age when he applied for asylum – despite his receding hairline, beard and physical assessments suggesting he was closer to 25. Once again, rulings with Norton-Taylor's fingerprints all over them.

He is not be the only judge making decisions that seem remarkably favourable to migrants.

But it is astonishing how many times he is involved in overruling 'harsher' decisions made in the Lower Tribunal.

More concerning than these, however, is the 'groupthink' of other judges to try to prevent any criticism. In February – when both the Prime Minister and Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch condemned the ruling to grant asylum to the Gazan family – Baroness Carr, Lady Chief Justice, complained about a 'mounting campaign of attacks' on judges.

In a democracy, it is vital that we have the right to hold those in power to account. When judges such as Norton-Taylor are effectively imposing a migration policy that is vastly at odds with public opinion and stated government policy, that matters.

For many of us, most of Norton-Taylor's rulings stink. Hopelessly soft-touch judges like him

are undermining public confidence in our appeals courts, perhaps irreparably.

Several convicted abusers held positions of power meant to protect children. Peter Newell, a former UNICEF advisor on child rights, was sentenced in 2018 for historical child sexual abuse—despite his influential role in shaping international child protection policy.

Marc Dutroux, convicted in Belgium for child kidnapping and abuse, claimed he was part of a larger paedophile ring. His 1998 prison escape, reportedly enabled by access to keys, sparked national outrage and questions about institutional failure. To this day, no full investigation into possible accomplices has been made public. In the U.S., Jeffrey Epstein's connections to powerful individuals remain largely undisclosed. Despite public demand, the full list of names has never been released.

Every year, hundreds of thousands of children vanish without a trace-250,000 reported missing annually in the EU alone, and one child every 40 seconds in the USA. How is this even possible? Where are all these children going? Some believe many cases involve trafficking or exploitation, while others question how such vast numbers can remain largely unseen and unresolved. In addition to the broader crisis, thousands of vulnerable children disappear from asylum seeker and refugee centers every year. Where these children eventually end up is unclear.

For example, some would choose to travel to relatives elsewhere in Europe themselves and another part would end up in the criminal circuit or in prostitution, the newspaper writes.

The latter appears from confidential reports of human trafficking from the COA to the Expertise Center for Human Trafficking and Human Smuggling.

There are important organizations and systems dedicated to finding missing children and protecting them from exploitation. The International Centre for Missing & Exploited Children (ICMEC) works globally with governments, police, and NGOs to locate and safeguard children. Interpol's Missing Persons Unit coordinates international efforts to track down missing individuals, including children. Additionally, the Amber Alert System quickly notifies the public when a child goes missing, helping to speed up searches in countries like the USA, the Netherlands, and Belgium. Knowing about these efforts is a crucial first step—raising awareness and supporting these initiatives can make a real difference.

A scientific study into the victims of known abuser Dutch Robert M. has led to the conclusion that these victims 'exhibit sexually deviant behavior'

The dissertation is called The deepest wounds are the immeasurable ones by Vionna Tsang and was published last week. 

Until 2010, Robert M. worked at the Amsterdam daycare center 't Hofnarretje. Ultimately it emerged that Robert M. abused 83 children. He explained in detail what he did with each child. The children were abused at pre-verbal age, before they could talk. 

Questionnaires were administered to parents for the study. An earlier study already showed that in the first months after the abuse, children reacted fearfully or defiantly to physical contact.

The new dissertation makes it clear that abuse at a young age can lead to deviant sexual behavior later in life. It also refutes some people's belief that children cannot have memories of painful things at a young age. The PhD candidate calls this 'a widespread misconception'.

The average age at the start of the abuse by Robert M. was 17.8 months. Of the 45 children examined, the abuse was legally proven in 37 cases, and in eight cases there is 'a strong suspicion' that the child has been abused. 

According to the study, it is difficult for parents to talk to the children about the abuse. More than half of the parents have informed the children in general or detailed information about the abuse. Some parents think it is better not to say anything 'because a child' doesn't know anything. Or a parent is afraid that he will regret it, then the other way around cannot happen if you don't say anything. 

Not telling can lead to problems In general, psychotherapy is increasingly making the switch to bodywork for the treatment of psychotrauma. This is because memories are stored in the body, exactly as Tsang states in this thesis. The same occurs in sexually abused people, where associations ultimately lead to blockages or fear. For example, an abused child may not dare to be intimate with a partner later in life, but she or he does not know why this is the case. If parents have not told her or him about abuse like that of Robert M., that person may not understand what is going on later in life. Not telling them what happened seems unfair to the children.

Of the pupils that attended the Lord Mayor Treloar College in the 1970s and 80s, 'very few escaped being infected' and of the 122 pupils with haemophilia that attended the school between 1970 and 1987, only 30 are still alive.

Dutch childcare benefits scandal: How thousands of children were wrongly taken from their families 

Between 2013 and 2020, the Dutch tax authorities wrongly accused thousands of parents of fraud related to childcare benefits, leading to the forced removal of children from their families. In 2019, a group of self-identified pedophiles announced their intention to participate in Amsterdam's Pride Week under the hashtag #PedoPride2019. The group was reportedly affiliated with the so-called "Child Liberation Front," an organization that promotes the idea of removing legal and social restrictions on adult–child sexual contact. In response, the advocacy group CitizenGO launched an online petition to protest their involvement.

At the time, emails related to the petition were directed to Amsterdam's mayor, Femke Halsema, a member of the GroenLinks (GreenLeft) political party. Notably, the GroenLinks-affiliated LGBTQ+ platform RozeLinks had previously drawn controversy in the mid-2000s, when it reportedly invited known pedophile activists to an event. This occurred around the time of the founding of the Dutch pedophile political party (PNVD), and was justified by some organizers on the grounds that pedophiles were also "sexually discriminated against."

The party GroenLinks (GL) is a Dutch political party with a left-wing signature and was founded in 1989 when four small left-wing parties merged, one of them being the Communist Party of the Netherlands, the CPN. Former GroenLinks chairman and gay activist Herman Meijer was active advocate of the pedophile case, and made statements like: "Sex should be possible with children. and I can sometimes fall for a boy. Children would be less sensible and unable to make clear what they want or don't want. Nonsense. All age limits must simply be removed from morality law ... If violence is used, it is just violence or abuse and then there are enough other laws to do something about it."

These people get support from like-minded individuals, such as Gert (Gerhardus) Hekma who was a lecturer in gay and gender studies at the Faculty of Social and Behavioral Sciences of the University of Amsterdam. Quoting Gert Hekma:

"I think you should force children. Children are also annoying beings, you have to put them on a straight track at some point and that also applies to sex".

Despite his public views, there is no evidence that he had any children himself. 

In 2014, Hekma co-created a petition addressed to the Supreme Court of the Netherlands, pleading the Dutch Supreme Court to not ban pro-pedophilia association Vereniging MARTIJN, also known as the pedoparty.  After the ban in 2014 police conducted searches in four homes in 2020 in the criminal investigation into the possible continuation of the forbidden pedophile association Martijn; two suspects were arrested (suspicion of possession of child pornography etc). 

Another Dutch pedophile activist was 'pastor' Hans Visser. Visser is known as an advocate of pedosexuals and as a member, and well-known speaker of the controversial pedophile association MARTIJN.

Serious Abuse Ignored: Sensitive Report Allegedly Withheld by Former Minister 

In 2017, seven whistleblowers from within the Dutch Justice and Security Inspectorate sounded the alarm about political interference at the highest levels. A sensitive internal report revealed that research findings were improperly altered or deleted—allegedly under pressure from senior officials. The report described shocking cases, including abuses at the Immigration and Naturalization Service (IND),

where evidence such as torture videos and child sexual abuse material was found on asylum seekers' phones.

Despite these discoveries, no measures were taken. Former Justice Minister Ferd Grapperhaus was accused of having failed to share this report with the House of Representatives. While he denies intentionally withholding it, concerns remain about transparency and accountability within the Ministry of Justice and Security. (source)

UK introduced dangerous DIY abortions

2020 The Government has announced the biggest change to abortion provision since 1967: introducing telemedicine abortions where 'DIY' abortions will be performed at home by women on themselves without a doctor or other medical professional present.

There are also possible safety issues with under-16 girls and other vulnerable women taking abortion pills at home, school or other locations without the support of medical staff and possibly under coercion from third-parties. They coordinated to launch this idea in the Netherlands, Germany and the United Kingdom. An NHS whistleblower has leaked an email that reveals that two women have died after using 'DIY' home abortion services. One woman died "very quickly" with sepsis whilst seeking urgent care at a hospital's accident and emergency department after taking 'DIY' abortion pills. A second woman was found dead at home the morning after starting the medical abortion process. (source)

A former gynecologist at the former Carolus Hospital in Den Bosch used his own sperm for artificial insemination, the current Jeroen Bosch Hospital (JBZ) reported on Tuesday. This was done without informing the intended parents and therefore without their consent. This is, as far as is known, the fourth case in the Netherlands involving a former gynecologist who has done this. (source)

Domestic violence is a widespread problem that affects millions of families worldwide, with profound and long-lasting consequences for children who experience or witness it. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), approximately 1 in 3 women globally has been physically or sexually abused by a partner or someone else, and many of these situations occur in households with children.

Children exposed to domestic violence often suffer consequences that are not immediately visible but can significantly impact their development and long-term well-being. Research shows that children who witness domestic violence are at a much higher risk for various negative outcomes. They have an increased likelihood of developing anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and behavioral problems.

Studies indicate that children who experience violence at home are up to 15 times more likely to develop PTSD compared to their peers. Additionally, chronic exposure to stress and trauma can affect the development of the child's brain, especially areas responsible for emotional regulation, memory, and learning.

Children raised in violent households also tend to display more aggressive behavior and are more likely to become either victims or perpetrators of domestic violence later in life. Moreover, exposure to violence can lead to concentration problems, poor academic performance, and difficulties in forming healthy relationships.

In terms of prevalence, the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV) reports that approximately 1 in 15 children in the United States is exposed to intimate partner violence each year. Globally, it is estimated that 275 million children witness domestic violence in their home environment.

Domestic violence is also the leading cause of injury among women aged 15 to 44, which directly impacts the children living in those environments.

Domestic violence is not merely a private matter within families—it has serious consequences for the health, safety, and future of the children involved. Addressing and preventing domestic violence is crucial, not only to protect victims but also to break the cycle of trauma that can be passed from generation to generation. Public awareness, access to support services, and strong legal frameworks are essential tools in safeguarding children's well-being.

Childhood obesity is on the rise worldwide — including in the Netherlands. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), more than 340 million children and adolescents aged 5–19 were overweight or obese in 2016, and the numbers continue to grow. 2,700 (about 1,300 children) Yazidis missing for ten years: 'Our wound is far from healed'

2024 - source  - The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) killed, captured and displaced all 400,000 Yazidi people living in Sinjar on 3 August 2014, in a genocide that disproportionately affected children. About 10,000 Yazidis were killed or abducted, half of all those executed were children, according to a report by multi-national researchers in the journal PLoS Medicine.

Nearly all (93%) of those who eventually died on Mount Sinjar from injuries or lack of food and water were also children. Of the around 6,400 abducted Yazidis, it's estimated about half were children, according to the Yazidi-led nonprofit Nadia's Initiative. Boys as young as seven were sent to ISIS training camps and girls as young as nine were subjected to rape and sexual enslavement, shows a Save the Children report.

Dutch former director/ founder Kanjer Wens suspected of child abuse

Peter Visser, a 54-year-old man from Almere and former founder/director of the Dutch charity Kanjer Wens, was convicted of sexually abusing at least 13 underage boys between 2006 and 2021, including during his time at the foundation, which grants wishes to seriously ill children. He was first arrested in 2022 after two complaints, and further investigations revealed additional victims. He was also linked to an earlier abuse case before founding the charity. Although his pre-trial detention was suspended on the condition that he would not work with children, he was re-arrested for allegedly violating that condition. Reports indicated that he continued to act as director despite being dismissed, leading to the resignation of six board members.

On December 22, 2023, Visser was sentenced to 9 years in prison and TBS (psychiatric detention). He denied most allegations but admitted to filming one minor. The prosecution did not appeal the verdict. source

Four-year prison sentence demanded against moderator of child pornography website

2025 - Netherlands (source msn.com) The suspect, 35-year-old Ronald K. from Zevenaar, was arrested in mid-October. Detectives found 124,000 images and videos on equipment in his home. Several dozen pictures of animal pornography were also found. According to K., this was a so-called by-catch when downloading child pornography. A psychologist has diagnosed K. with a pedophile disorder, for which he must be treated. This must be done in detention. The website, called Alice in Wonderland, was taken offline by the German police in March last year. K. subsequently emerged as a suspect in the investigation. According to the judiciary, K. attempted to build a website with child pornography himself after the site ceased to exist. The Public Prosecution Service has also charged this fact, as an attempt to set up a criminal organization. source

Police hunt for suspects of new form of child sexual abuse: via live streams

(Netherlands 2024, source) They are almost impossible to stop and they destroy the lives of young children: live streams of child sexual abuse. The concerns are particularly great in poorer countries such as the Philippines. Hundreds of thousands of children are victims there, partly due to Dutch viewers.

It was a stroke of luck: sex suspect Gerard V. had to stop for a traffic check in May 2022. At that moment, he received images of child sexual abuse on his phone. An attentive officer also saw the message coming in and subsequently found many more images of sexual abuse on the phone. This week, V. appeared in court.

The Dutch police suspect that these suspects are far from the only ones who watch images of sexual abuse in this relatively new way. It concerns live streams for which 'customers' pay a few tens of euros to providers abroad. In exchange for that money, they perform sexual acts with children. It often concerns family members who abuse children from their own environment - a problem that has grown explosively, especially in the Philippines. In 2022, 470,000 children were abused for live streams, concluded the International Justice Mission (IJM) and the British University of Nottingham.

Victims of sexual abuse in the Roman Catholic Church cannot sue the Vatican and the Pope

The victims from the Netherlands, Belgium and France feel damaged not only by the perpetrators themselves, but also by the church. He systematically closed his eyes to the abuse, protected clergy who committed it and left victims out in the cold. However, the church leadership resides in the Vatican, which, like other countries, is immune from lawsuits from abroad, the human rights court also ruled. The Court thus follows an earlier decision of the Belgian court. D. stood before the court in Assen on Thursday for violating professional secrecy and possession of child and animal pornography. He was sentenced to: 60 days imprisonment, all suspended, 240 hours of community service and mandatory psychological treatment.

Dutch in top three of number of arrested child abusers in Cambodia 

Cambodia has recorded several notable cases involving Dutch individuals in past years like Sebastian Reuijl who was convicted in February 2017 of indecent acts involving minors under 15 and child pornography. The Public Prosecution Service speaks of 'extreme child pornography material that stuns even the most experienced detectives'. The investigation into the contents of his phone shows that the suspect is a member of dozens of extreme Telegram groups. He is also the manager of a number of groups, the Public Prosecution Service announced. The groups have dozens to 1,500 members. The groups are not only concerned with child pornography and violence against children. Many violent videos of, among other things, beheadings have also been found. The latter is also being investigated, the Public Prosecution Service reports to RTL News. Very young children "This case concerns unprecedentedly violent photos and videos with very young children. What we have encountered is footage of an exceptional category, even for the most experienced child pornography investigators," says Linda van den Oever, national prosecutor of child pornography and child sex tourism.

Albino Children Targeted in Ritual Violence Across Africa

In parts of East and Central Africa, people with albinism continue to fall victim to horrific practices. Children and adults are mutilated or even killed—often by relatives—because their body parts are believed to bring luck, health, or wealth when used in ritual potions.

A heartbreaking example is six-year-old Baraka Cosmas Lusambo from Tanzania, whose hand was cut off by his own father and sold to a witch doctor. Bones are ground and buried by miners hoping to find diamonds. Hair is woven into fishing nets, and genitals are used in so-called potency remedies.

Ireland - A total of 185 allegations of abuse were disclosed at Spiritan-run junior and senior schools in Blackrock, Co Dublin to the Government-appointed inquiry into historical abuse at schools across the State

Some 130 allegations of abuse were disclosed at Willow Park Junior School against 24 alleged abusers, while 55 allegations of abuse were disclosed against 13 alleged abusers at its post-primary counterpart Blackrock College.

These are two of 308 schools named in the report on allegations of abuse at schools run by religious orders, which was published on Tuesday. The 700-page report includes a breakdown of 2,395 allegations of historical sexual abuse by school. source

He was on trial Tuesday in Reims for assaulting a young woman in a building classified as a defense secret in Charleville-Mézières, L'Union said. The acts of rape, for which he was initially indicted, have been reclassified as sexual assault. He thus escaped the assize court.

The investigation also revealed that the district councilor posed as an underage girl on several websites. During a search of his home in Deurne, the laptop and iPhone were seized, according to the prosecutor's office, incriminating items were found such as pedo-pornographic searches. Child raped by 20 firefighters when she was between 13 and 15 years old 

Julie* says she was raped by Parisian firefighters over a period of two years, having been groomed by Pierre, a firefighter who had assisted her during a severe anxiety seizure when she was 13 in early 2008. Major child pornography platform busted, at least 13 Dutch users

2025 (source msn.com) A major child pornography platform called KidFlix has been taken offline by the Child Pornography and Child Sex Tourism Team (TBKK). The platform had over 1.8 million users, including at least thirteen Dutch people. In addition, the site ran on a Dutch server.
Users of the platform could watch or download videos showing the sexual abuse of children for a fee. They could also offer images themselves.
